If the Kitchen was a Village...

If the kitchen was a village, I would be the idiot. I absolutely hate cooking. I am the messiest person in the world when it comes to cooking. It's like I lose all function in my hands and shit just starts flying. I hate reading the directions (that one gets me every time).  Just now, I was prepping some quinoa for lunches and it boiled over and I have a hot, holy mess. For tips and pictures on how I am going to clean that bad boy up stay tuned to my Shaklee blog...

I am sure I am not alone. I have always struggled to come up with dinner ideas too. Before Turner, I was perfectly content living on cheese pizza and macaroni & cheese. Let's just say, he was warned.

I literally had to dust this thing off...

Anyway, now that I am home, I multiply my challenges by three since we need breakfast and lunch too. Yes, there's Pinterest, but "pinning" things is the easy part. Going to the website (hoping the link is correct!), making sure it's a simple dish, getting the groceries for it... it's exhausting. Ok, I might be exaggerating a bit but still. If you could only "pin" and it would grocery shop and cook it for you too. That would be the life.

I have talked about how I meal plan. I have been doing it since April and it takes so much stress off of dinner time and I feel we get a more balanced meal when it's planned out. One day, I printed a few months worth of calendar off from Word and sat down next to Turner. I had him call out random dinners that he likes and I plugged them in on various days. We always make more complex dishes on the weekends when we have more time so those dishes went there. I skipped days that I knew we'd want an easy day, like after travel or a busy weekend.

Here is what we have planned this week. I'm banking on a lot of leftovers. I'll post the actual towards the end of the week as we are already off! Ha!

I've already decided, next week is going to be an easy week. My goal is to only make meals in which we already have ingredients for in the house. So that will hopefully make our grocery shopping bill a bit lighter too! Have a great week!
