Happy Wednesday! Today's post is another guest post about the Shaklee 180 experience from the lovely Beth. This is our second testimonial post so if you missed the first one, click here to read about Emily's journey. So without further ado, here's Beth!
Hi! My name is Beth Odegard. I am a wife, mother, and a Reading Specialist at an elementary school. My husband and I have a beautiful 15-month-old daughter, Cora. They were and still are my inspiration to start this journey in developing a healthier lifestyle for myself as well as my family.
I've always loved to dine out and food is always something I've looked forward to enjoying. Quite frankly, it is what motivated me throughout the day. I had always been very fortunate to go through life maintaining a healthy weight/figure without much effort. With age and then pregnancy, things started to change. When I was pregnant, I used every excuse (I'm a good excuse maker) to eat what I wanted and as much as I wanted because "I was eating for two". Well that backfired on me as I gained 60 lbs during pregnancy. After Cora was born, I thought about starting to exercise and eat healthier, but those "excuses" always got in the way. A year later, I was so sick of feeling like I was living in someone else's body I finally made up my mind... something needed to be done! I wasn't happy with myself and it not only affecting me, but other parts of my life too. Although I had made up my mind to do something, I was still at a loss for exactly WHAT I was going to do. Thankfully, Tracy posted about starting a 90-day challenge and I knew it was the answer I needed to start my change!
Joining The Shaklee 180 Challenge Group was one of the best choices I have made! I honestly never thought I'd follow through with it, but I have with great success!! I am currently down 13 lbs and 10 total inches. I am able to fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans again! I ALMOST donated them this summer giving up hope that I would wear them again. Not only do my clothes fit again, I feel like I have my energy back! This challenge has helped me make some lifestyle changes that are becoming a habit for me. I now have a better handle on portion sizes. I also have found healthy foods that keep you full so you reduce the urge to snack. Drinking sugary soda is a thing of the past and I now enjoy drinking water!! Caffeinated soda was like my coffee!
As you know, signing up with Tracy includes access to the exclusive Facebook group. The easiest part of the group is that you know you aren't doing this alone! Although my husband is very supportive of me and being a great cheerleader, it's great to have a group of people that are actually doing it and living it too. They have been great encouragement along the way. I love how we share our successes and struggles. We also shares tips and ideas with each other. It seems like right when I am lacking the focus or energy to keep going, someone posts something that brings my motivation and excitement back.
I would highly encourage others who are looking to live a healthier lifestyle to join the Shaklee 180 program and Tracy's private Facebook group. It isn't an easy journey. There are definitely ups and downs along the way, but I didn't give up because I had the support of the group and my family behind me. I'll leave you with a quote that I like... "The question isn't Can you? It's Will you?"
Thanks, Beth!! For some reason, this lady's story just gives me chills every time I read it. Maybe it's because I can relate to the "living in someone else's body" syndrome that she talks about.
