If you follow me, Tracy, on Facebook (you can do that here) you will occasionally see me posting pictures of my son enjoying a "soomee" or smoothie. I used to be terrified of smoothies and felt it would be too much of a hassle to clean the blender up, however, the more we consume them and play around with it, the easier and more convenient I feel this option is for us. PLUS--you can hide all kinds of good greens in it.
Here is my main recipe for smoothies.
- Handful of spinach or kale
- Frozen berries. I buy a big bag of mixed berries or whatever is on sale. My freezer always has berries so it's just a matter of having fresh spinach or kale on hand!
- Fill with water to consistency that you prefer
- Vanilla protein mix (optional--but when I added this my mind was BLOWN. Turned into dessert!)
It's nothing fancy. You can certainly add more fruits or veggies or play around. I like to think if my son eats spinach because of this, then I'm winning!
